Personalized menopause care via secure telehealth throughout Washington State, with in-person appointments available in Mukilteo.

Hot flashes interrupting your day. Nights disrupted by sweating or sleeplessness. Changes in energy, mood, sexual health, or weight that no longer respond to your usual routines.

Menopause may be a natural transition, but that doesn't mean you have to accept symptoms that interfere with your quality of life.

Menopause Symptoms:
More Than Hot Flashes

Menopause affects women differently. Some experience relatively few symptoms, while others face significant changes that affect their work, relationships, sleep, and overall well-being.  â€‹Common concerns include:

Hot Flashes & Night Sweats

Sudden waves of warmth, flushing, or nighttime sweating that disrupts comfort and sleep.

Vaginal & Urinary Health

Vaginal dryness, discomfort during intimacy, or changes in urinary health.

Sleep & Fatigue

Difficulty falling asleep, waking frequently, or feeling exhausted despite adequate rest.

Sexual Health & Intimacy

Changes in sexual desire, arousal, or comfort that affect personal relationships.

Mood & Mental Clarity

Changes in mood, increased anxiety, irritability, or difficulty concentrating.

Body & Joint Changes

Changes in body composition, muscle or joint discomfort, and evolving metabolic health.

Not every symptom is necessarily caused by menopause. A thoughtful evaluation considers your health history, symptoms, and other potential contributing factors.

Wondering what these changes mean for you?

Understanding Menopause
and Life After Menopause

Menopause marks the end of menstrual periods and reproductive cycling. Natural menopause is generally recognized after 12 consecutive months without a period, when the absence of menstruation is not explained by another cause.

The average age is approximately 51, although timing varies.

The years leading up to menopause are called perimenopause, when hormone levels and menstrual cycles may fluctuate substantially.

After menopause, estrogen levels generally remain lower than during the reproductive years. Some symptoms improve over time, while others, particularly vaginal and urinary concerns, may continue without treatment.

Menopause is not an illness. It is a major physiological transition that can influence your symptoms, health priorities, and treatment decisions.

Understanding these changes creates an opportunity to address current concerns while considering long-term health.

Menopause Treatment Options:

Finding What Works for You

Effective menopause care isn't about following a single protocol or achieving a particular hormone number.

It's about understanding your symptoms, evaluating your health, considering the available evidence, and selecting treatment options that fit your priorities and medical history.

At Adaptive Wellness, your care plan may incorporate several approaches.

Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) for Menopause

Menopausal hormone therapy, often called hormone replacement therapy or HRT, is the most effective established treatment for bothersome hot flashes and night sweats.

Depending on your symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals, care may include estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, or an appropriate combination. Delivery options may include patches, creams, gels, oral or vaginal preparations, or hormone pellets.

Hormone therapy is not appropriate for everyone. The decision depends on factors such as time since menopause, personal and family medical history, symptoms, and individual risks.

Anne can help you understand the potential benefits, limitations, and risks of treatment, including the differences between available formulations and delivery methods.

Non-hormonal Menopause Support

Hormone therapy isn't the only option.

Nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress management, and other aspects of health are important parts of a comprehensive menopause care plan. Dr. Wells considers these factors alongside hormonal changes, medical history, and individual health goals. Non-hormonal approaches may be incorporated independently or alongside hormone therapy to support overall health and well-being.

Your treatment plan should reflect your preferences, health history, and the symptoms that matter most to you.

Vaginal and Urinary Symptom Management

Vaginal dryness, irritation, discomfort during intimacy, and some urinary symptoms may respond to targeted treatment.

Options can include vaginal moisturizers, lubricants, low-dose vaginal estrogen, and other prescription treatments when appropriate.

These concerns deserve attention even when hot flashes or other menopause symptoms have improved.

Sleep, Nutrition, Movement, and Metabolic Health

Sleep quality, physical activity, nutrition, and maintaining muscle and bone strength become especially important during midlife.

Your individualized plan may include strategies for improving sleep, resistance exercise, nutrition, stress management, and metabolic health.

When weight concerns require more focused medical support, Anne can evaluate appropriate options as part of your broader health picture.

Long-Term Health and Prevention

Menopause is also a useful time to revisit bone health, cardiovascular risk factors, metabolic health, and preventive screening.

Anne can help identify priorities for evaluation, treatment, and coordination with your other healthcare professionals.

The goal isn't simply to manage symptoms today. It's to support your health and quality of life for the years ahead.

The Adaptive Wellness Difference:
Care That Sees the Whole Picture

You shouldn't have to choose between clinical expertise and being genuinely heard.

At Adaptive Wellness, Dr. Anne Wells combines evidence-informed naturopathic and functional medicine with a personalized approach to midlife women's health.

Her work considers the relationships among hormones, metabolism, sleep, digestive health, stress, lifestyle, and other factors that may influence how you feel.

Your care is grounded in:

Time to understand your concerns.

Thoughtful conversations about your history, symptoms, priorities, and treatment preferences.

Individualized clinical evaluation.

Appropriate testing and diagnostic assessment based on your circumstances, rather than a one-size-fits-all approach.

Informed treatment choices.

Clear discussions about the benefits, risks, and alternatives of available treatments.

An ongoing clinical relationship.

Support that can adapt as your symptoms improve, health priorities change, or new concerns arise.

AW is designed for women who appreciate thoughtful, personalized care and want an experienced clinician who understands their bigger health picture.
